Road Skills Test

IF YOU ARE UNDER 18 YEARS OF AGE YOU MUST FIRST COMPLETE THE FOLLOWING
BEFORE BOOKING YOUR ROAD TEST:

Finish Driver's Ed. (30 hours of class, 12 driving hours, 6 observation hours, and the parent class)
40 driving hours with a parent or guardian
Permit for at least 6 months accident and incident free.
Verified completion of Driver's Ed (can be found on your RMV profile)
Practice.

TESTING ON YOUR OWN; THE DAY OF THE ROAD TEST YOU MUST HAVE THE FOLLOWING:

Legible permit.
Road test application completed. (If you are under 18 you must have this signed by a parent or guardian)
Sponsor. (requirements: at least 21 yrs - valid license - at least 1yr of experience).
Acceptable vehicle. (see the RMV website for acceptable vehicles).
Proof of insurance if the vehicle is registered out of state.

TAKING THE ROAD TEST WITH New England driving school? YOU WILL NEED:

Legible permit.
Road test application completed. (If you are under 18 you must have this signed by a parent or guardian, please leave "Sponsor" section blank).
A sponsor; A New England Driving School certified Instructor will be your sponsor for the road test
Your remaining balance for New England Driving School (if you still owe). PLEASE remember; the fees charged by NEDS do NOT cover any RMV fees. You may view your balance on your RMV profile or inquire by calling or visiting an RMV service center.

VERIFY COMPLETION OF DRIVER'S EDUCATION (IF UNDER 18):

Please be sure to log into your RMV profile to confirm that your driver's education certificate has been processed, therefore getting you one step closer to obtaining your license! Once you are logged in, you will see "DRIVER'S ED COMPLETION" near your permit picture. If a date has been posted then your certificate is recognized in the system. If it is blank then please call NEDS' office to confirm you have completed all requirements (processing could take up to 3 days so please allow 3 days since your last completed lesson before calling).
